Abstract
274,514 Process for preparing 1-tertiary-alkyl-3-(substituted furyl )-urea antihypertensives, such as N-(2,5-dihydro-2-methyl-5-oxo-3-furanyl)-N'-(1,1-dimethylethyl)-urea, by contacting an appropriately substituted 2,4-furandione with a phenylhydrazine, cleaving the resulting 4-(2-phenylhydrazino)-2(5H)-furanone by catalytic hydrogenation to give a 4-amino-2(5H)-furanone, then contacting this with an appropriate tertiaryalkyl isocyanate.
