Abstract

The bilaminar yarns consist of polyethylene terephthalate and crosslinked polybutylene terephthalate with a melt viscosity of at least 2000 poises at 260 DEG C. The polyethylene terephthalate constitutent, seen in section, partially surrounds the crosslinked polybutylene terephthalate constituent. The die used for spinning is provided with a distribution plate (1) pierced with conduits (4) whose axes are eccentric in relation to the axes of the pre-holes (3). The polybutylene terephthalate is delivered via the conduits (4) and, in the pre-holes, is surrounded by the polyethylene terephthalate travelling from the gap (8) separating the distribution plate from the die (10). The crimping frequency and stability are better than when it is polybutylene terephthalate that surrounds polyethylene terephthalate. These bilaminar yarns find widespread use in the textile industry. <IMAGE>
