Abstract

The compounds of formulae I to V - the meaning of the symbols is explained in Claim 1 - are prepared by a reaction of the starting carbonyl compound with simultaneously an alkali metal cyanide and ammonium carbonate. The yields are very good. If desired, the salts of the compounds obtained with pharmaceutically acceptable cations are formed. The compounds obtained can be used as medicaments for combating certain chronic complications resulting from alimentary diabetes. <IMAGE>
