Abstract
In a device for protecting against over voltages comprises an envelope containing at least one pair of primary electrodes and a pair of secondary electrodes connected via a capacitive junction in parallel therewith, the secondary electrodes and the capacitor junction are formed by depositing conductive material on a dielectric support in at least one strip, the support being arranged inside the envelope. The figures show a quadrupolar device with primary electrodes 23 mounted in metallic envelope 20, with segments of conductive material 25 being disposed on the glass member 24 and forming a capacitive junction C with respective electrodes 23. Alternative quadrupolar, bi-polar and five-polar protection devices are described. <IMAGE>
