Abstract
A new coated elongate substrate is described, such as a sheathed cable, in which the coating is flame-retarded and consists of a composition of vinyl acetate/alkene copolymer which includes an inorganic flame-retardant devoid of halogen. The composition is characterised by its high content of vinyl acetate and/or by the presence of a copolymer of polyalkene or alkene/alkene mixed with the vinyl acetate/alkene copolymer.
