Abstract

The subject of the invention is an apparatus for sealing a bulb socket relative to an incandescent bulb, and the invention is characterised in that the sealing apparatus has an elastic sealing ring, intended to encircle the glass cylinder of the incandescent bulb, which possesses, on its inside, annular front sealing combs of saw-tooth cross section for relatively sharp-edged sealing against the glass cylinder and a rearward, annular sealing flange which, like the saw-tooth sealing combs, is directed radially inwards but has a substantially smaller diameter than the combs, in order to be bent backwards by the glass cylinder when the bulb is inserted, and in that the sealing ring has a rearward-directed sleeve-like extension starting from the foot of the sealing flange and, radially outside the latter, a sleeve-shaped outer extension, which together define an annular intermediate space for surrounding and, preferably, engaging by snapfit with the outer end of the bulb socket, the outer, sleeve-shaped extension resting against an outer peripheral surface of the bulb socket which serves as a seat for it.
