Abstract

The intermittent oil burning combustion system comprises a fan which drives combustion air through a feed duct into the combustion chamber. In this duct is a movably suspended damper which is held open by the air current. It closes when the fan stops and there is no combustion air supply. This prevents air entering the combustion chamber when it is inactive, and providing a cooling effect. The damper is installed in a section of the air duct between the fan and the combustion chamber, and in the closed position is activated by a magnet lock. This lock provides sufficient retention force to prevent the damper opening under the effect of gravity, but its effect is overcome when the fan starts up. (Provisional Basic advised week K24).
