Abstract

The lifting device is for cables when they are being paid out or taken in, and involves a body suspendable on a crane vehicle arm. The body contains a rotatably located roller for cable support, and a passage through the cable can move laterally for paying out or hauling in. The roller is located around a horizontal axis, and has a central part whose dia. is considerably less than that of its outer end parts. The cable passage has an adjustable component in the form of an auxiliary roller for its opening or closure. This auxiliary roller with possibly further such rollers fitted adjacent to the cable support roller ends, prevent slide contact between the cable and a surface in the body during relative movement between cable and body.
