Abstract

An elongate frame member, suitable for use in a window, door or other framed assembly, comprises a central component 11 which includes a longitudinally extending backbone portion 14 and four longitudinally extending flange portions 15, 16, 17, 18 which extend outwardly away from the backbone portion, and two cover components 12, 13 separately formed from the central component and engageable with the flange portions on opposite sides of the central component so as to form the outer side faces of the frame member. The cover components 12, 13 are connected to the central component 11 by retaining strips 25 which may be of plastics material so as to provide a thermal break. Figure 7 shows hollow box-section central components with either 'dog-leg' flanges adjacent the corners or T section flanges in the centres of the faces. <IMAGE>
