Abstract

An optical main distributor comprising an electrical switching network (1) which allocates multiplexing devices with 64 kbit/s- channels to a PCM 30-system and a PCM 30-system to a PCM 1920- system during one connection and a second successive optical switching network (2) controlling a plurality of opto-electrical converters (o/e) as well as lambda-multiplexing devices ( -MUX) whereby the switching networks (1, 2) are sequentially switched through for the connection of the optical terminal lines (AsIs) with the terminals of different wide band- and narrow band communication systems. <IMAGE>
