Abstract

An expression vector comprising a hybrid operon which combines parts of an E.coli rRNA operon and a part of a protein coding operon, which may be constructed by removing most of the structural part of an E.coli rRNA operon carried by a suitable plasmid to obtain a shortened rRNA operon, combining said shortened rRNA operon with a part of a protein-coding operon to produce an effective hybrid expression control region and finally inserting a DNA fragment coding for a desired polypeptide into the combined operon to ensure gene expression under the control of said hybrid expression control region.
