Abstract

The new apparatus for charging a shaft furnace installation with materials of different grain size fractions comprises silos (1) for said charging materials, at least one movable conveyor belt (3) and a rotary tub (4) installed above the furnace shaft, comprising circular compartments and having emptying flaps in the bottom. When the apparatus is in operation, the various fractions are delivered onto the conveyor belt from the silos in a controlled manner; the conveyor belt empties the charge over the entire radius range of the moving rotary tub. As soon as the latter is full, both the supply and the movement of the rotary tub are stopped, the closure of the furnace shaft is opened and the charge is fed into the furnace rapidly, evenly and without significant demixing. <IMAGE>
