Abstract

The refining process is carried out under predetermined conditions by relatively rotating members defining a refining gap through which fibrous material is forced radially outwardly. Refining conditions are kept constant by refining gap adjustments under control of signals derived by comparing process variables, e.g., power and gap width, with reference values of those refining conditions.
