Abstract
To iron seamed tubular fabric sections, such as trouser legs, at least one workpiece is passed with its two seamed pair of legs to an extended multi-beam undershoe workstation. At least one leg is drawn over each pair of adjacent ironing beams at a determined working area of the station. A linear alignment of both upwards positiioned leg pair starts as they are moved in sections over the curved surface outwards to give a binary fixing as the start ends of the legs are locked and the remainder hangs free as a tube. The charged undershoe station is passed into an ironing press where, at the latest after its insertion, there is an automatic and continuous opening and spreading of the pair of legs at least in the longitudinal direction. When the undershoe station has moved horizontally to its final position, it is lifted and the material is pressed, between the undershoe and the profiled iron unit, evenly over its whole surface including the curved seams according to the leg characteristics, without steam. The undershoe is then lowered vertically and drawn out of the pressing station in a straight line, and brought to rest when it reaches the end of the working zone to be unloaded and the process repeated. ADVANTAGE - The trousers can be effectively ironed in a single and fast operation.
