Abstract

A planting machine comprises a cross-country vehicle, having a frame suspended from wheels 7 which, for springing reasons, are mounted in carriers 8 which are movable relative to the frame, and at least one planting unit which is disposed close to such a wheel 7 and which incorporates a crane 17 supported by a girder 18, which crane at its free end or tip has a planting apparatus. The girder 18 is connected to the vehicle frame, or some part 9' joined rigidly thereto, by a parallel arm control system comprising upper and lower arms 20,21 having a total of four joints 22,23,24,25, two 22,23 of which are fixed and coupled with the said frame part 9' and the other two 24,25 of which are movable and coupled with the crane girder 18. Operating between the girder 18 and the wheel carrier 8 there is an articulated link 26, with the function of transmitting to the crane girder 18 level- motions of the wheel 7 relative to the vehicle frame such that the crane girder is raised or lowered relative to the frame at the same time as the wheel. <IMAGE>
