Abstract
A drying apparatus for textiles, such as a tumble-drier or a drying cabinet, comprises a drying chamber 11 for wet textiles, an air inlet 15 connected to the drying chamber 11 for the delivery of warm, dry air thereto, and an air outlet 16 connected to the drying chamber 11 for removing warm, moist air therefrom, blower element 14 for propelling an air flow through the drying chamber 11 in a closed circuit comprising elements 20 for condensation of moisture from the warm, moist air flow, and elements 18 for heating up the air thus dehumidified, the condensing elements 20 comprising the evaporator in a compressor- driven heat pump system 19 and the heating elements 18 comprising the condenser in the heat pump system. A further temperature-reducing load 29 is arranged between the air outlet 16 and the evaporator 20 in the heat pump system 19, which load is designed to compensate for that part of the energy given off by the compressor 22 that cannot be used in the drying process. The further load 29 preferably takes the form of an air-to-air heat exchanger, which is designed to cool the warm, moist air with air from the surroundings of the drying apparatus. The air-to-air heat exchanger preferably comprises a fan 30, which propels the cooling air through the heat exchanger 29 and its operation may be controllable in respect of the temperature or the pressure in the condenser 18 in the heat pump system 19. <IMAGE>
