The saw blade and cutting bar are arranged to work in the same plane, when required, and are placed so that a free operating end 18 of the cutting bar and an operating segment 6 of the saw blade are located opposite each other to enable them to work on an individual piece of timber 7 from opposite sides. <IMAGE>
