Abstract
The invention relates to a device and a method for reproducible surface finishing, such as polishing, rubbing or grinding of a test surface, thereby imitating conventional, manual surface finishing. The invention may be applied, for example, in connection with development of painted sheet metal details, paints, enamels and polishing equipment within the motor car industry, or for other similar applications. The device (1) comprises at least one finishing apparatus (2) with finishing member (3), movement means (4), recording device and control device. The device is characterized in that the finishing member (3) is arranged to be able to be brought into contact with said test surface (6) with a chosen pressure application, and that at least one sensor (5, 5', 5''), for recording significant parameters for reproducible surface finishing, is connected to said recording device. The test surface (6) and the finishing member (3) are thereby arranged in order to describe a movement pattern, controlled by said control device, in x, y and/or z-directions in relation to each other, with the aid of the movement means (4). The finishing device (3) may be arranged to rotate, oscillate or vibrate in contact with said test surface (6).
