Abstract

A person is carried up and down the stairs (20) on a platform formed by a support plane (24) pivotably connected via a vertical axle (25) to the glide frame (23) travelling up and down a chain (22) extending along one side of the stairs. The axle is located close to the top end of the glide frame and near the corresponding corner of the support plane. A drive mechanism (32) is used to control the support plane pivot position relative to the glide frame.
