15 SELF-CLEANING DISCARD CYCLONE SEPARATOR SYSTEM A primary embodiment of the invention is a self-cleaning discard cyclone separator 5 system comprising: (a) a housing 02 having a top end wall 06 , an upper side wall 04 , a central axis 08 and a lower side wall 03 ; (b) an inlet 07 in the upper side wall 04 of the housing connectable to a discard pipe 31 capable of transporting a plurality of discard items 12 ; (c) a discard collector 09 within the lower side wall 03 of the housing 02 with a discharge valve 10 , wherein the discard collector 09 is located above a designated 10 space for a discard receptacle; (d) a vortex finder 13 aligned generally along the central axis 08 of the housing 02 and mounted to the top end wall 06 of the housing 02 , wherein the vortex finder 13 includes a separator screen and an air outlet 05 connectable to an exhauster through an air pipe; (e) a plurality of water spray nozzles mounted within the housing 02 , wherein the plurality of water spray nozzles include at 15 least one mist nozzle and at least one stream nozzle 23 ; and (f) a cycle controller for performing a discard acquisition cycle 6A , a discard release cycle 6B and a cleaning cycle 6C .
