Description

In order to sort but freely color objects, such as coffee beans, by several color components, machines are used that contain light sources, light filters, and photoelectric devices that act on the actuator to remove non-standard items.

The proposed machine is more perfect in comparison with the known machines, since it reduces the influence of the gloss of the sorted objects on the results of work. This is achieved by using flat polarized light sources with filters that transmit infrared light.

The items / sorted into the machine by belt conveyor 2 are sorted during their free fall by checking their color from four sides. The control is carried out by a photovoltaic device acting on an actuator that removes non-conforming items. Controlled objects 1, coming from the conveyor 2, can freely fall through the cube-shaped housing 3 with internal reflective walls. Inside the housing 3 are lamps with devices that create a flat polarized light. This light falls on objects 1 and, reflecting from them, falls on the corresponding pair of photo cells or photomultipliers. The diagram shows only one pair of photo cells or photomultipliers. There are four such photovoltaic units of the same type in the machine, one on each side of the housing 3.

The light received by photocells or photomultipliers and 5 from controlled objects 1 passes through a lens tube 6 with a lens 7 to focus the image of an object on a developing slit 8, through a lens system 9, a transparent light guide element 10 and light filters 11 transmitting infrared light to photo cells or a photomultiplier. The outputs of the photon cells or photomultipliers are connected via a differential signal amplifier 12, which in turn controls the electronic comparator 13, adapted for distinguishing the condition items from substandard.

When a defective item is detected, the comparator 13 sends a signal to the ejecting mechanism 14, which discharges a jet of air from the nozzle 15, as a result of the impact of this jet, the defective item is ejected from the housing 3.
