Description
Предметом изобретени вл етс способ получени целлулозы или бумажной массы из стеблей хлопчатника (gossypium ). возделываемого дл добывани хлопка. Уже многократно предлагалось дл получени целлулозы использовать разные части растени , как-то: сем нные коробки хлопчатника, короткие волокна хлопка, непригодные в качестве пр дильного материала, даже кожуру сем н от выжимани масла, стебли же хлопчатника находили применение только в качестве топлива. Причины этого в следующем: высохшее растение крайне неоднородно,-в то врем , когда нижние части растени или его ствола, который имеет небольшую толщину в 1-3 сантиметра , вл ютс дерев нистыми, более молодые ветки имеют скорее характер высохшей травы; кроме того, все растение покрыто корою разного вида и толщины. Микроскопическое исследование волокон давало также мало надежды на получение удовлетворительной целлулозы, так как длина и толщина
клеток в главной массе представл етс под микроскопом такою, кака встречаетс у волокон механической древесной массы или, в лучшем случае, у волокон соломенной целлулозы, т. е. таких материалов, из которых самосто тельно бумага не изготовл етс . Все это вместе-неоднородность материала, неудовлетворительна теоретически длина и толщина клеток и, особенно, присутствие толстой и разнородной коры, признаваемой весьма вредною дл чистоты массы при изготовлении целлулозы из дерева, не давало основани дл предположени о возможности получени из этого материала промып ленно пригодной целлулозы. По опытам же изобретателей, несмотр на все указанные неблагопри тные обсто тельства , помощью предлагаемого способа, из стеблей хлопчатника может быть получена целлулоза или бумажна масса не только вполне однородна и чиста , но также крепка и пригодна дл самосто тельного изготовлени .
