Beyond these detergent reactivators, the detergent mixture may also contain detergent enhancers ranging from 0 to approximately 80% by weight and water-soluble cationic polymers with soil stain removal/anti-adhesion properties, comprising a specific structure. The polymer base consists of at least two M groups and at least one L-X group, where M is a cationic group attached to or part of the base structure and centered on a positive N+ charge; X is a nonionic group selected from groups consisting of H, C1-C4 alkyl or hydroxyl alkyl esters or ethers, or a mixture of these; and L is a hydrophilic chain attached to the M group and the X group, or to the polymer base structure. L also contains a polyoxyalkylene-[(R1O)m(CH2CH2O)n]- fraction, where R1 is a C3-C4 alkyl or hydroxyl alkyl, m and n are the number of units that make up at least approximately 50% by weight of the polyoxyalkylene fraction, and n is at least three cationic units. These polymers are useful as detergent compounds.

Claims

Water-soluble cationic polymers with stain-removing, soil-cleaning/anti-re-adhesion properties, primarily composed of units with chemical formulas VII, VIII, and IX, where R1 is C2-C12 alkylene, hydroxyalkylene, alkeniline, cycloalkyline, arylene, or alcarylene, or the C2-C3 acetalkyline fraction with 2 to approximately 20 oxyalkyline units, provided that no O-N bonds are formed; R2 is C1-C4 alkyl or hydroxyalkyl, or the fraction -(R3)k-[(C3-H6O)m(CH2CH2O)n]-X; R3 is C1-C12 alkylene, hydroxyalkylene, alkeniline, arylene, or alcarylene. M' is the N+ center or N center; X is H##, the chemical formula -R4 or a mixture of those groups, where R4 is C1-C4 alkyl or hydroxyl; d is 1 when M' is N+ and 0 when M' is N; e is 2 when M' is N+ and 1 when M' is N; k is 1 or 0; m and n are numbers that ensure the -(CH2CH2O)n- portion is at least approximately 85% by weight of the -[(C3H6O)m(CH2CH2O)n]- portion; m ranges from 0 to approximately 5; n is at least approximately 3; x, y, and z values ensure the presence of at least 10 M' groups, at least 2 N+ centers, and 2 X groups.
