Claims

1. Tablets containing anion-exchange resin formed by mixing non-crosslinked anion-exchange resin of formula (I) (chemical formula) where X is the anti-ion that the body can accept and p is the average degree of polymerization and is greater than 10,000, consisting of silicon dioxide and crystalline cellulose in anhydrous environment, followed by tablet compression of the resulting mixture.

2. Tablets, as per claim 1, where the amount of added silicon dioxide shall be from 0.1 to 5% by weight.

3. Tablets, as per claim 1 or 2, where the amount of added crystalline cellulose is from 1 to 30% by weight.

4. Tablets, pursuant to one of the claims in Claims 1 through 3, where the added silicon dioxide has an apparent specific gravity of 20 g/L to 70 g/L and the added crystalline cellulose has an average particle size of 10 to 50 microns.

5. Coated tablets containing anion exchange resin formed by coating the core of an uncoated tablet of any one of the claims in clauses 1 through 4 with a coating agent.

6. Coated tablets, as per claim 5, where the coating consists of cellulose.

7. Coated tablets pursuant to claim clause 6, where cellulose is hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose.

8. Coated tablets, pursuant to one of the claims 5 through 7, where uncoated tablets are coated with a coating agent of 1 to 10% by weight.

9. Methods for manufacturing tablets of any of the claims in Articles 1 through 4.

10. Methods for the manufacture of coated tablets under any of the claims in Articles 5 through 8.
