The top surface is a long, rolled plane with several small, parallel ridges along its length, providing additional strength to the top plane. This forming process of the sheet metal results in a bed base component that can be assembled with the bed frame by arranging the components parallel to each other and welding them to the bed beams. The resulting surface is smooth, similar to wood, and is less expensive and more aesthetically pleasing.
