Abstract

The electrical plug, with its distant strain relief sleeve, is positioned longitudinally along the flexible cord, with the electrical connector from the plug body. It is connected to the plug body by a pair of rails attached to both the plug body and the strain relief sleeve. These rails incorporate alternating and opposing V-shaped grooves to provide flexibility. Molded, flexible and tensile inserts within the rails add tensile strength without compromising elasticity. The curves in the flexible cord between the plug body and the strain relief sleeve provide the force to bend the cord near the plug head while simultaneously allowing some slack for the smooth movement of the copper wires within the cord.

Claims (5)

1. An electrical plug consists of a plug body for securely securing the electrical conductor in position for insertion into the electrical outlet. A flexible electrical cable is connected to the plug body at the entry point on the side of the plug body opposite the electrical conductor outlet. The internal conductor of the flexible cable is connected to the electrical conductor. A strain relief sleeve is attached to the flexible cable, away from the plug body, and at least a section of the sleeve is connected between the plug body and the strain relief sleeve to transfer the force on the flexible cable to the plug body without transferring significant force to the flexible cable at the entry point to the plug body. 2. The electrical plug as described in point 1, where each section of the rail also consists of numerous alternating V-shaped grooves on opposite sides of the rail section in order to allow the rail section to flex. 3. The electrical plugs as per item 1, where each section of the rail also contains an inner insert within the rail section made of a flexible material with a tensile stress greater than the tensile stress of the rail section itself. 4. The electrical plug as per item 1, where the flexible cord includes the slack portion in the form of a curve between the plug body and the stress relief sleeve. 5. The electrical plug in item 1, where two rails are mounted on opposite sides of the said flexible cord, shall be connected to the said stress relief sleeve. (Clause 5, page 1, figure 3)
