Sanitary pads with extensions, which at least some parts are folded back and attached to underwear during use. Such sanitary pads consist of: a permeable top sheet placed on one side of the pad to at least cover the center area; a back sheet, an absorbent layer placed between the top sheet and the back sheet; and a leak-proof layer placed on the opposite transverse side of the top sheet and extending longitudinally in the pad. The leak-proof layer is formed from a non-hydrophilic sheet folded back on itself on top of the leak-proof layer and a flexible assembly that expands longitudinally. The non-hydrophilic sheet and the top sheet are stacked at the base end of the leak-proof layer and bonded together at a seam that is created to expand longitudinally. Part of the non-hydrophilic sheet is expanded outward towards the seam. Part of the non-hydrophilic sheet, the back sheet, and the reinforcing layer are bonded in the expansion buffer area at other parts of the non-hydrophilic sheet. The top and back layers are stacked and formed outward toward the seam. A flexible area containing the back layer and a portion of the non-hydrophilic sheet is formed between the edges of other portions of the non-hydrophilic sheet, creating a buffer area of the top layer, and the edges of the reinforcing and expanding sheet are folded back in the flexible area. 2. Sanitary pads under Reputation 1 where if the Gurley stiffness of the flexible area is given as 1, then the Gurley stiffness of the buffer area is equal to or greater than 2.5 and equal to or less than 9. 3.
