It receives wastewater for treatment and discharges treated water through the other end. The system uses a transparent tank combined with biological media to create an optimal environment: nutrients from wastewater, light for photosynthesis, and carbon dioxide present in the tank. This allows microorganisms and algae (which produce oxygen) to thrive. These microorganisms have wastewater treatment properties, ultimately enabling the system to treat the wastewater.
