Bir bulaşık makinesi (10) için bir yıkama kontrol tekniği sunulmaktadır. Bulaşık makinesi (10) yıkama suyunun bulaşık makinesi bölmesinden (42) püskürtme kollarına (26a, 26b, 26c) doğru devridaim hortumuyla (28a, 28b) dolaştırılması için bir devridaim pompasını (46) çalıştırmaya yönelik bir motor (120), bir kontrol ünitesi (110) ve yıkama suyu kullanılarak yıkama gerçekleştirilirken yıkama suyunun devridaim hortumundan (28a) geçerken akış hızını 10 saptamaya yönelik bir akış ölçer (105) içermektedir. Kontrol ünitesi (110) tarafından yıkama suyunun saptanan akış hızına göre yıkama işlemi belirlenmektedir. Akış hızı, yıkama suyunun viskozitesini göstermektedir, bu da yıkama suyundaki kirletici miktarını göstermektedir. Böylece kontrol ünitesi (110) akış hızından, yıkama suyunu müteakip yıkama çevrimi için yeniden dolaştırmayı ya da yıkama suyunu bulaşık makinesinden (10) boşaltmayı 15 belirlemektedir.
