Abstract

A disposable diaper 1 has a topsheet 2, a backsheet 3, an absorbent member 4, a leg flap 5 along each side edge of the absorbent member 4, a laterally extensible member 7 on each side region of a below-waist portion in the rear section B thereof, and a fastening tape laterally projecting outward from the extensible member 7. The backsheet 3 extends over the whole length of the diaper 1. Each leg flap 5 has an elastic member 51 laid along or near its laterally outer edge to provide no substantial frill outboard of the elastic member 51. The extensible part of the extensible member 7 overlaps the leg flap 5 and extends laterally outward from the overlap. Each extensible member 7 is disposed on the backsheet 3 side against the leg flap 5. The extensible member 7 is joined to the backsheet 3. The part of each leg flap 5 where the elastic member 51 is disposed is covered with the backsheet 3 on its garment facing side in the crotch section of the diaper.
