Abstract

To provide a magnetic encoder, which is small with high resolution (e.g. 10 bits) space, comprising a magnet 12 fixed onto the tip of shaft 11, an IC chip 14 having Hall element 13 for detecting the variation of magnetic field with the rotation of magnet 12, the rotation angle of shaft 11 is calculated on the basis of the detection of Hall element 13 and plural signals are generated on the basis of the information of the rotation angle, and a plurality of circuits for outputting the plural signals generated at IC chip 14 to the exterior respectively, wherein the magnet 12 with shaft 11 and the IP chip 14 are provided as an encoder body 10 to which a lead cable 20 is connected, and the lead cables 20, 21 are provided with a relay section 30 having plural circuit section 32-34 and a power circuit section 31 for supplying power to the encoder body 10.
