Abstract
The present invention discloses a system of performing a cache backup procedure between dual backup servers. The system comprises two backup servers, wherein each of the backup servers respectively has a Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) controller, such that two backup severs could be connected to each other via a SAS channel. In each of the SAS controllers, an initiator is defined with a command for executing a cache mirror, and a command for flushing the cache mirror. When one backup server receives a write command and data via an optical fiber cable or an iSCSI channel, the backup server would write the received data into its cache memory. Further, its SAS controller would create a command descriptor block (CDB) for the cache data, wherein the CDB uses the cache mirror command as an operation code, and the SAS controller would add a data header for the cache data, wherein the data header is comprised of messages such as a number of the storage device, and a block address and data length of the cache memory. Then, the data would be transmitted to the SAS controller of another backup server via the SAS channel, such that the SAS controller of another backup server would write the received data into its cache memory. Therefore, via a broadband of the SAS channel, the present invention could rapidly process massive cache data flow, so as to efficiently enhance the storage efficiency of the dual backup servers.
