Abstract

The present invention provides a novel bisphenol compound. Further, according to the producing method of the present invention, it is possible to produce the novel bisphenol compound effectively. The novel bisphenol compound of the present invention is expressed by the following formula (1). (In formula (1), R represents an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, an aryl group having 6 to 12 carbon atoms, a nitro group, an amino group, or halogen; n is an integer from 0 to 4. When there are plural R's, the R's can be identical or different, and each n can be identical or different). Further, the producing method of the present invention is to produce the bisphenol compound described by the above formula (1), which is characterized in that acenaphthene-1-one is brought into reaction with the phenol expressed by the following formula (2) using acidic catalyst. (In formula (2), R represents an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, an aryl group having 6 to 12 carbon atoms, a nitro group, an amino group, or halogen; n is an integer from 0 to 4. When there are plural R's, the R's can be identical or different).
