Abstract

Description
本發明關於具有外鞘的電纜,該外鞘包含熱塑性聚胺基甲酸酯(TPU)組成物。在一個方面,本發明關於一種包含不含鹵素且阻燃性的TPU組成物的電纜外鞘,其包括一以氮為基礎之含磷阻燃劑以及一金屬水合物。
TPU組成物可具有廣範圍的靈活性。該等組成物可藉由自注入成型至擠壓至吹塑成型廣泛多種的方法製造。該等組成物亦提供透明度、耐磨性、抗化學藥品性及抗烴性,以及載荷及拉伸強度性能方面的優勢。因此,該等組成物涵蓋許多需要阻燃性的應用。

HFFR TPU組成物
本揭示提供一由不含鹵素阻燃性(HFFR)熱塑性聚胺基甲酸酯(TPU)組成物製得的電纜外鞘。該HFFR TPU組成物包含(a)TPU、(b)金屬水合物、(c)以氮為基礎之含磷阻燃劑,以及(d)液態磷酸酯改質劑。
(A)熱塑性聚胺基甲酸酯(TPU)
執行本發明所使用的熱塑性聚胺基甲酸酯係聚異氰酸酯(通常為二異氰酸酯)、一或更多聚合物二醇(polymeric diols)以及任擇地一或更多雙官能鏈伸長劑之反應產物。於此處所使用的“熱塑性”係描述一種(1)具有可拉伸至其原始長度以上並且當釋放時可實質上回縮其原始長度的能力,且(2)當暴露於熱時將軟化而當冷卻至室溫時實質上返回至其原始狀態的聚合物。
該TPU可藉由預聚物、半預聚物或一次製程(one-shot method)來製備。該異氰酸酯於該TPU中形成一硬段且可為芳香族、脂肪族或環脂族異氰酸酯以及二或更多此等化合物的組合。一衍生自二異氰酸酯(OCN-R-NCO)之結構單元非限制性的例子係由式(I)所代表:

異氰酸酯之代表例可於USP 4,385,133、4,522,975及5,167,899中找到。合適二異氰酸酯之非限制性例子包括:4,4’-二異氰酸基二苯基-1-甲烷、對苯二異氰酸酯、1,3-雙(異氰酸基甲基)-環己烷、環己基-1,4-二異氰酸酯、六亞甲基二異氰酸酯、1,5-萘二異氰酸酯、3,3’-二甲基-4,4’-聯苯基二異氰酸酯、4,4’-二異氰酸酯-二環己基甲烷、2,4-甲苯二異氰酸酯,以及4,4’-二異氰酸酯-二苯基甲烷。

該雙官能鏈伸長劑可為在該鏈中具有自2至10個碳原子(包括2與10個碳原子)的脂肪族直鏈及枝鏈二醇。此二醇之解說性例為乙二醇、1,3-丙二醇、1,4-丁二醇、1,5-戊二醇、1,6-己二醇、新戊二醇,以及類似者;1,4-環己烷二甲醇;氫醌二(羥乙基)醚;環己二醇(1,4-、1,3-及1,2-異構物)、異亞丙基二(環己醇);二乙二醇、二丙二醇、乙醇
胺、N-甲基-二乙醇胺,以及類似者;以及任何上述的混合物。正如前面所指出的,於某些情況下,少量比例(少於約20當量百分率)的雙官能伸長劑可以三官能伸長劑取代而不減損產生的TPU的熱塑性;此伸長劑解說性例為甘油、三羥甲丙烷,以及類似者。
鏈伸長劑係以由特定反應組份、所欲之硬段及軟段的量以及足以提供良好機械性能(諸如模數及撕裂強度)之指數的選擇所決定的量併入至該聚胺基甲酸酯。該聚胺基甲酸酯組成物可含有,例如,自2至25,較佳自3至20,且更佳地自4至18,wt%的鏈伸長劑組份。
任擇地,少量的單羥基官能或單胺基官能化合物,經常被稱為“鏈停止劑”,可用於控制分子量。此等鏈停止劑之解說性例為丙醇、丁醇、戊醇以及己醇。當使用時,鏈停止劑典型係以少量的自0.1至2重量百分比之整個反應混合物的量存在,從而產生該聚胺基甲酸酯組成物。
聚合物二醇對該伸長劑之當量比可依對該TPU產物所欲硬度而有很大的不同。普遍來說,該當量比落在個別自約1:1至約1:20,較佳地自約1:2至約1:10之範圍內。同時,異氰酸酯當量對含活性氫之材料之當量的整體比例係在0.90:1至1.10:1,以及較佳地0.95:1至1.05:1的範圍內。
於一實施例中,該TPU係至少一以聚醚為基礎的或以聚酯為基礎的聚胺基甲酸酯。以基於以聚醚為基礎的聚胺基甲酸酯TPU組成物係較佳的。
合適的TPU非限制性例子包括:可得自路博潤公司(Lubrizol Corporation)的PELLETHANETM熱塑性聚胺基甲酸酯彈性體;皆可得自諾譽(Noveon)的ESTANETM熱塑性聚胺基甲酸酯、TECOFLEXTM熱塑性聚胺基甲酸酯、CARBOTHANETM熱塑性聚胺基甲酸酯、TECOPHILICTM熱塑性聚胺基甲酸酯、TECOPLASTTM熱塑性聚胺基甲酸酯,以及TECOTHANETM熱塑性聚胺基甲酸酯;可得自巴斯夫(BASF)的ELASTOLLANTM熱塑性聚胺基甲酸酯及其他熱塑性聚胺基甲酸酯;以及可得自拜耳(Bayer)、亨斯邁(Huntsman)、路博潤公司(Lubrizol Corporation)以及麥金莎(Merquinsa)之商業的熱塑性聚胺基甲酸酯。
本發明組成物的TPU組份可包含一或更多熱塑性聚胺基甲酸酯,以及任擇地包括一或更多額外熱塑性、不含鹵素的聚合物,包括但不限於:乙烯醋酸乙烯酯(EVA)、聚乙烯、聚丙烯、乙烯-或丙烯共聚物、苯乙烯嵌段共聚物,以及類似者。此等其他的聚合物可被分散於該組成物中而與該該組成物之TPU樹脂相呈不連續或雙連續(co-continuous)。
存在的話,以該TPU組份與該等其他聚合物組合的重量為基準計,以wt%表示,那麼該等其他的聚合物典型地係以0.1wt%至50wt%,更典型地0.1wt%至15wt%以及甚至更典型地0.1wt%至10wt%,的量存在。
以該HFFR TPU組成物之重量百分比(wt%)計,該TPU典型地佔至少10wt%,更典型地至少20wt%以及甚至
更典型地至少30wt%。以該HFFR TPU組成物的總重量為基準計,該TPU典型地佔不多於90wt%,更典型地不多於80wt%以及甚至更典型地不多於50wt%。
(B)金屬水合物
用於本發明實行之合適的金屬水合物包括但不限於:氫氧化鋁(亦被稱為ATH或三水合鋁)及氫氧化鎂(亦被稱為鎂二氫氧化物(magnesium dihydroxide))。該金屬水合物可以是天然存在的或合成的,且其等可單獨使用或是彼此組合及/或典型地與少量其他無機阻燃劑(例如,碳酸鈣、氧化矽等等)組合使用。
以該HFFR TPU組成物之總重量為基準計,該金屬水合物典型地佔至少5wt%,更典型地至少10wt%以及甚至更典型地至少20wt%。以該HFFR TPU組成物之總重量為基準計,該金屬水合物典型地佔不多於90wt%,更典型地佔不多於60wt%以及甚至更典型地佔不多於40wt%。
(C)以氮為基礎之含磷阻燃劑
該HFFR TPU組成物亦包括以氮為基礎之含磷阻燃劑。該以氮為基礎之含磷阻燃劑亦典型地包括一或更多組份作為一結合的磷-氮種類或作為一分開的組份來貢獻氮。
使用於本發明實行中的以氮為基礎之含磷阻燃劑包括,但不限於:磷酯醯胺、磷酸醯胺、膦酸醯胺、次膦酸醯胺,及三聚氰胺與三聚氰胺衍生物,包括:三聚氰胺多磷酸鹽、三聚氰胺焦磷酸鹽及三聚氰胺氰尿酸鹽,以
及二或更多此等材料之混合物。
銨和哌多磷酸鹽與焦磷酸鹽被廣泛地使用,經常係與阻燃劑添加劑(諸如三聚氰胺衍生物)組合。於一實施例中,該以氮為基礎之含磷阻燃劑包含AMFINE FP-2100J,其係來自艾迪科公司(Adeka Corporation)之以磷-氮為基礎的阻燃劑混合物。於一實施例中,該以氮為基礎之含磷阻燃劑包含BUDIT 3167,其係來自博德公司(Budenheim Corporation)之以磷-氮為基礎的阻燃劑混合物。該FP-2100J與BUDIT 3167典型地對TPU以及其他樹脂系統提供良好的燃燒膨脹性能。
以該HFFR TPU組成物之總重量為基準計,該以氮為基礎之含磷阻燃劑佔至少1wt%、更典型地至少2wt%以及甚至更典型地至少5wt%。以該HFFR TPU組成物之總重量為基準計,該以氮為基礎之含磷阻燃劑典型地佔不多於30wt%、更典型地不多於20wt%,以及甚至更典型地不多於10wt%。
(D)液態磷酸酯改質劑
該HFFR TPU組成物任擇地包含一液態磷酸酯改質劑。液態磷酸酯改質劑至該HFFR TPU組成物的併入大幅降低應變或刮傷白化的同時並提供整體協同性優勢。此等液態磷酸酯改質劑與該HFFR TPU組成物具有非常良好的相容性且與該以氮為基礎之含磷阻燃劑具有燃燒協同作用。如於此處所使用,“液態磷酸酯改質劑”意指一磷酸酯阻燃劑,其要不是在環境條件下為一液體,就是在環境條
件下為一低熔點固體但具有低於150℃的熔化溫度。
合適之液態磷酸酯改質劑的實例包括:高分子量間苯二酚二苯基磷酸酯(resorcinol diphenyl phosphate)(RDP)、雙酚A二磷酸酯(BDP)、三酚磷酸酯(TPP)、三丁氧基乙基磷酸酯(TBEP)、三甲苯磷酸酯(TCP)、間苯二酚雙(二甲苯酚磷酸酯)(XDP)以及二或更多此等化合物之混合物。
當存在時,以該HFFR TPU組成物之總重量為基準計,該液態磷酸酯改質劑典型地佔至少1wt%、更典型地至少2wt%,以及甚至更典型地至少3wt%。以該HFFR TPU組成物之總重量為基準計,該液態磷酸酯典型地佔不多於20wt%、更典型地不多於15wt%,以及甚至更典型地不多於10wt%。
於一實施例中,該液態磷酸酯改質劑為BDP。BDP為一商業上可獲得的、淺色、高沸點、不易燃、低粘性和低酸性之阻燃劑添加劑,已知用於可撓性及剛性的聚胺基甲酸酯與聚異三聚氰酸酯泡沫、不飽和聚酯樹脂、聚氯乙烯、接著劑、彈性體、醋酸纖維素、硝化纖維素、環氧樹脂以及其他樹脂。BDP可作為一單一分子或作為一寡聚物存在,即,僅具有少數重複單元之類聚合物材料。BDP的寡聚形式通常每分子具有平均二或更多磷酸酯及/或膦酸酯單元。
添加劑與填料
本發明之HFFR TPU組成物亦可任擇地含有添
加劑及/或填料。代表性的添加劑包括但不限於:抗氧化劑、加工助劑、著色劑、紫外線安定劑(包括UV吸收劑)、抗靜電劑、抗滴落劑、成核劑、助滑劑、塑化劑、潤滑劑、黏度控制劑、增粘劑、防結塊劑、界面活性劑、填充油(extender oil)、除酸劑以及金屬減活化劑。若存在的話,以該組成物之總重量為基準計,此等添加劑典型地係以習知方式及以習知的量使用,例如,自0.01wt%或更少至10wt%或更多。
代表性的填料包括但不限於:各種金屬氧化物,例如,二氧化鈦;金屬碳酸鹽,諸如:碳酸鎂與碳酸鈣;金屬硫化物與硫酸鹽,諸如:二硫化鉬與硫酸鋇;金屬硼酸鹽,諸如:硼酸鋇、偏硼酸鋇(meta-barium borate)、硼酸鋅以及偏硼酸鋅(meta-zinc borate);金屬酐(metal anhydride)諸如鋁酐(aluminum anhydride);黏上諸如矽藻土(diatomite)、高嶺土及蒙脫土(montmorilonite);碳鈣鎂礦;矽鈣石(celite);石棉;地面礦物(ground mineral);以及鋅鋇白。若存在的話,以該組成物的重量為基準計,此等填料典型地係以習知方式並以習知的量使用,例如,自5 wt.%或更少至50 wt.%或更多。
於一實施例中,本發明HFFR TPU組成物進一步包含一防滴落劑。實例包括但不限一或更多三縮水甘油基異三聚氰酸酯(triglycidyl isocyanurate)、環氧化酚醛清漆樹脂,以及以氟為基礎的樹脂,諸如:聚四氟乙烯、四氟乙烯及六氟丙烯的共聚物、四氟乙烯與全氟烷基乙烯基醚的
氟化碳樹脂、聚偏二氟乙烯以及類似者。
若存在的話,以該HFFR TPU組成物之總重量為基準計,該防滴落劑典型地佔至少0.1wt%、更典型地至少0.2wt%,以及甚至更典型地至少0.4wt%。若存在的話,以該HFFR TPU組成物之總重量為基準計,該防滴落劑典型地佔不多於10wt%、更典型地不多於8wt%,以及甚至更典型地不多於5wt%。

混練/製造
此等本發明組成物之混練可藉由熟習此項技藝者已知之標準工具進行。混練設備之實例係密閉分批式混合機(internal batch mixer),諸如:Banbury或Bolling密閉混合機。另外,可使用連續的單螺桿或雙螺桿混合機,諸如:Farrel連續混合機、Werner及Pfleiderer雙螺桿混合機或Buss連續捏和擠出機。所利用之混合機的類型以及該混合機的操作條件將會影響該組成物的性質,諸如:黏度、體積電阻及擠出表面平滑度。
該TPU與該金屬水合物、以氮為基礎之含磷阻燃劑以及任擇的液態含磷改質劑及添加劑包的混練溫度,典型地自120至220℃,更典型地自160至200℃。最終組成物的各種組份可以以任何順序或是同時地彼此添加並混練,但典型地在該TPU與該等添加劑混練之前,其首先與一或
更多之該阻燃劑混練。
於一些實施例中,該等添加劑係作為預混合的母料被添加。此等母料普遍係藉由以少量的該TPU分別地或是一起地分散該等添加劑而形成,或者,若該TPU係與另一樹脂,例如:聚乙烯或聚丙烯組合使用時,則係藉由以少量的該另一樹脂分別地或是一起地分散該等添加劑而形成。母料係便利地藉由熔融混練方法形成。
製造的製品
於一實施例中,本發明的電纜包含一無阻燃劑的熱塑性內鞘,以及一包含該HFFR TPU組成物的外鞘,其中該外鞘係與該熱塑性內鞘接觸。該外鞘具有大於零至0.8mm的厚度,較佳地0.2至0.6mm。該熱塑性內鞘可包含聚烯烴,較佳地聚丙烯。
本發明之HFFR TPU組成物可以已知的量並藉由已知的方法來應用至一電纜(例如,以如於USP 5,246,783及4,144,202專利號中所描述的設備及方法)。
典型地,該HFFR TPU組成物係於一配備有電纜包覆模具的反應器-擠出機中製備,而在該組成物的該等組份被配製後,當該電纜被牽引通過該模具時,該HFFR TPU組成物被擠出在該電纜的熱塑性內鞘之上。接著該外鞘典型地係經歷一固化過程,其係在自環境溫度至低於該組成物之熔點的溫度下發生,直至該製品已經到達所欲的交聯程度。固化可於該反應器-擠出機中開始。
該電纜外鞘包含本發明之HFFR TPU組成物,其
不使用鹵化之阻燃劑而展現令人滿意的防燃性性能,且因此消除關於該等組成物燃燒之環境的及健康的憂慮。
透過下述的實例本發明被更充分地描述。除非另有說明,所有部份以及百分率係以重量計。
特定實施例
材料
於此些實例中所使用的TPU係ESTANETM58219,其係一聚醚熱塑性聚胺基甲酸酯,可獲得自路博潤先進材料(Lubrizol Advanced Materials)。於使於使用之前,該TPU試樣在真空下於90℃預乾燥至少6小時。ELVAX® 265,其係乙烯醋酸乙烯酯共聚物,係取得自杜邦(Dupont)且以接收到的來使用。BDP係得自艾迪科(Adeka)具有等級名稱為FP600並且係以接收到的來使用。以氮為基礎之含磷阻燃劑FP2100J係得自艾迪科(Adeka)而BUDIT® 3167係得自博德(Budenheim)。三水合鋁H42M係得自昭和化工(Showa Kako)且係在真空下於100℃預乾燥6小時。
DEN431,一無溶劑的、環氧化酚醛清漆係可獲得自陶氏化學公司(The Dow Chemical Company)。氧化鈦(TiO2)係得自杜邦(Dupont)的R350。該抗氧化劑IRGANOX®1010以及加工安定劑IRGAFOS®168係得自汽巴精化公司(Ciba Specialty Chemicals)。該UV-安定劑係TINUVIN 866亦係得自汽巴精化公司。該色母料Clariant MB係來自科萊恩(Clariant)。
製備
顯示於表A的該等組成物係在一雙螺桿擠出機上製備且評估擠壓特性以及關鍵性質。比較例(CEs)及發明例(IEs)皆被顯示。下述的步驟係使用於材料製備以及評估。於一50L高速混合機中,該TPU樹脂與EVA以及一部分的該三水合氧化鋁填料被添加並混合10秒。剩餘的三水合氧化鋁,連同該以氮為基礎之含磷阻燃劑(FP2100J或Budit 3167)以及若存在的話,該液態磷酸酯改質劑(BDP)接著係被添加至該混合物。經預熱之環氧化酚醛清漆逐漸地舀入至該混合機。然後該Irganox 1010及Irgafos 168添加劑被添加。
一旦所有的組份被添加至該混合機,該等於1800 RPM下被混合1分鐘。該經預混合的摻合物接著藉由一具有190℃之料筒溫度、螺桿直徑為40.0 mm以及L/D為38.6之雙螺桿擠出機,以約60 kg/hr的產量來擠出。最後,所得的丸粒於120℃下乾燥6 hrs。
電纜係在一具有螺桿直徑為70 mm及L/D為21.4之一電線包覆機械上被擠出。該TPU複合物被擠出為具有一壁厚為0.4 mm的外套/鞘。該絕緣芯係一標準的A58數據電纜芯。擠壓的線速度係80 m/min。
定性
拉伸斷裂強度以及斷裂伸長率係根據ASTM D-638於室溫且速度為500 mm/min來測量。該拉伸試驗在INSTRON 5565拉伸試驗機上進行。用於該拉伸試驗的樣本係於185℃的模製溫度所製備之壓縮成型的牌匾,並使用
低壓循環以促進熔融,隨後藉由暴露於高壓以塑形1.4x200x200mm的牌匾。該模子係被保持在高壓(15 MPa)下並在8分鐘的期間冷卻至室溫以固化該等牌匾。
VW-1測試係於一根據UL 1581-2001的VW-1腔中進行。對每一試樣測試五個樣本。下述現象任一者將會導致評級為“未通過”:(1)在該樣本下的棉被點燃;(2)標誌旗(flag)被燒毀;或(3)觀察到隨著火焰的滴落。
熱變形測是係根據UL 1581-2001進行。對每一配方,將兩對等的試樣牌匾放置於烘箱中並於150℃預熱一小時。該等經預熱的試樣接著以相同的負載於150℃加壓一小時。於此之後,無重量移除之該等經加壓的試樣係被放置於具有溫度設定在23℃的ASTM室中額外的一小時。該等試樣牌匾在厚度上的改變被記錄而熱變形率係根據HD%=(D0-D1)/D0 *100%來計算,其中D0代表原始試樣厚度而D1代表在該變形過程後之試樣厚度。對該兩對等的試樣計算出之變形率被平均。
非遷移性測試係以圖1中顯示的組件來進行。由一依據本發明之組成物構成的兩電纜102,係被夾在兩塑膠平板104間,該等被進一步夾在兩玻璃平板106間,並具有為500g之負載108位於該組件的頂部。所採用的塑膠平板係PC、ABS及PC/ABS。該等電纜係在該等三平板的每一類型上測試(即,三次--一次與各類型的平板中的一種。該等電纜的直徑並非關鍵的。具有直徑為約0.5 mm至約10 mm的電纜可被使用。每一平板的尺寸係9 cm x 6 cm。該等兩
電纜突出超過該加壓平板(寬度60 mm)。該組件接著被儲存於50℃,80% RH,48小時。然後該等塑膠平板係以90%乙醇清洗。對本揭示的目的,於該測試之後,若藉由目視檢查確認在該等PC、ABS及PC/ABS平板上未觀察到殘留物或蝕刻,則一組成物通過該非遷移性測試。
與該等發明例相對地,CE 1未能包含一以氮為基礎之含磷阻燃劑,而CE 2未能包含一金屬水合物。
當一電纜芯係製得自一聚丙烯且無一阻燃劑添加劑,以及當該電纜外套係非常薄(0.4 mm)時,對該電纜外套來說要通過該VW-1測試係非常具有挑戰性的。CE 1與CE 2僅具有以氮為基礎之含磷阻燃劑或金屬水合物,未能通過VW-1測試。
相對於比較例1-2個別地僅通過五項測試中2與3項,發明例1-4於該VW-1測試係令人應驚訝地成功並且IE 1-4通過5項測試中的5項。僅該等發明例通過該非遷移性測試,具有少於25%的標誌旗燒毀面積且沒有滴落或點燃該棉,並對於拉伸強度、伸長率及變形同時具有可接受的值。
雖然透過前述該較佳實施例的描述,已描述了本發明某些細節,但該細節主要的目的係用於說明。一於此技術領域中具通常知識之人可作出許多的變化和修改而不背離如於下述申請專利範圍中所描述之本發明的精神與範疇。

Claims (8)
- 一種電纜,其包含:一無阻燃劑之熱塑性內鞘;以及一外鞘組成物,以該組成物的總重量為基準計,其包含:(a)10wt%至90wt%之一以TPU為基礎的樹脂、(b)5wt%至90wt%之一金屬水合物、(c)2wt%至50wt%之一以氮為基礎之含磷阻燃劑,以及(d)2wt%至20wt%之一液態磷酸酯改質劑,其中,該外鞘係與該內鞘接觸,其中,該外鞘具有大於零至0.8mm的厚度。
- 如申請專利範圍第1項的電纜,其中該外鞘包含:(a)30wt%至50wt%之一以TPU為基礎的樹脂、(b)20wt%至40wt%之一金屬水合物、(c)5wt%至20wt%之一以氮為基礎之含磷阻燃劑,以及(d)3wt%至10wt%之一液態磷酸酯改質劑。
- 如申請專利範圍第1項之電纜,其中該金屬水合物係三水合鋁。
- 如申請專利範圍第1項之電纜,其中該以氮為基礎之含磷阻燃劑係選自於由多磷酸銨(APP)、三聚氰胺多磷酸鹽(MPP)以及焦磷酸哌所構成之群組。
- 如申請專利範圍第1項之電纜,其中該液態磷酸酯改質 劑係選自於由間苯二酚二酚磷酸酯(resorcinol diphenol phosphate)(RDP)、雙酚A二磷酸酯(BDP)、三酚磷酸酯(TPP)、三丁氧基乙基磷酸酯(TBEP)以及間苯二酚雙(二甲苯酚磷酸酯)(XDP)構成的群組。
- 如申請專利範圍第1項之電纜,其中該外鞘組成物進一步包含環氧化酚醛清漆。
- 如申請專利範圍第1項之電纜,其中該熱塑性內鞘包含聚丙烯。
- 如申請專利範圍第1項之電纜,其中該外鞘具有自0.2至0.6mm的厚度。
