Abstract
A representative value obtaining part 411 in an image processing part 41 assigns each pixel in an image, which includes granular elements having higher contrast than those of edges of a pattern area, as an attention pixel to obtain a representative value of brightness values in a plurality of target pixels included in an area of a predetermined size around the attention pixel. A reference value setting part 412 sets a brightness value of the attention pixel as a reference value when the brightness value of the attention pixel is within a brightness value range whose center value is set at the representative value, and sets the representative value as the reference value when the brightness value of the attention pixel is outside the brightness value range. A filter processing part 413 calculates a new brightness value of the attention pixel by performing filter processing where a larger weight is applied to a brightness value of each target pixel having a smaller difference between the brightness value of the target pixel and the reference value. It is therefore possible to remove the granular elements having high contrast in the image while the edges of the pattern area is kept.
