Abstract
The entrainment of slag is to be eliminated in a converter, on the melt tapping passage of which a closure element, particularly a sliding gate valve, is arranged. For this purpose, an inlet trough is constructed at the tapping passage. Its cross-section is larger than the flow cross-section of the tapping passage and substantially smaller than the cross-section of the converter. In the tapping position of the converter the inlet trough defines a reservoir space above the closure element.
