Abstract

An electronic imaging system with a rotation detector, an image capture element, and a signal processor. The image capture element captures an image projected in its surface, and generates a digital version of it. The rotation detector detects landscape or portrait mode for a captured picture by detecting the position of the apparatus. The signal processor employs digital processing of the image signal and combines it with the rotation information. The resulting processed image includes information on the relative position of the imaging apparatus as the picture was taken, and enables systems used to store, display, or print a picture to automatically select the proper position of the picture.
