Abstract

The present invention relates to a method of producing a filter element for inclusion in a smoking article, the method comprising applying an additive to filter material, the additive being solid at room temperature and the method involving heating the additive so that it melts. The method according to the present invention may be used to produce a filter element for a smoking article comprising a filter sheet material and the additive solid at room temperature, wherein the filter sheet material may comprise paper, reconstituted tobacco or starch.
