Abstract

The invention relates to the technology of chemical treatment of graphite. A process for obtaining thermal expanding graphite includes sequential treatment of graphite by water solution of chromic anhydride and concentrated sulfuric acid, following treatment of oxidized graphite by water in stationary and then - dynamic regimes, drying of the final product. Water under the temperature 0-18°C is used for treatment of oxidized graphite by water in the stationary regime.
