Abstract
An ankle-foot prosthesis consists of a lower leg prosthesis, an ankle prosthesis, and a hollow foot prosthesis. The prosthesis contains a spatial parallelogram support mechanism with a recuperative-damping device located in either the ankle prosthesis or the foot prosthesis. Two spatial support hinges are attached to the foot prosthesis sole within the foot prosthesis cavity and positioned sequentially along its longitudinal axis between the heel and toe of the prosthesis. These hinges, together with the spatial parallelogram support mechanism, allow the outer plane of the foot prosthesis sole to be tilted in either direction from the horizontal position by up to 15 degrees.
