Abstract
An integrated system of digital selective calling (DSC) relates to radio communication technology and may be used in shipboard equipment for calling ship and coast stations in SHF range using DSC to set radio-telephone exchange . The system comprises a receiver-transmitter, a DSC unit, an automatic identification system AIS, an Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) and a bidirectional interface. Via two-way information exchange between the DSC and the ECDIS there is a possibility to display calls which are displayed on the ECDIS monitor connecting to current navigation circumstances. The invention increases efficiency of decision making when complicatedmanoeuvre circumstances occur, thereby improves shipping safety with reducing functional load to a navigator
