' Specification of Letters Patent. ll gi j en'fl gd 319111,
Application filed August 1, W10. Serial No. 5%,816.
To all whom ill may concern:
Be it known that we, Jnnon PETER J'Aiion- SEN and HANS .Fnennim Jensen. subjects of the King of Denmark, both residing at Copenhagen, Denmark, have invented new and useful Improvements in Electric Switches, of which the following a spe ri-- ficetion.
The object of this invenl'ion is an electric switch or the like wherein a contact arm rotatable about the center of the loose in a plane parallel thereto is ope ated by means of a lever rotatable in a plane perpendicular to the plane of rotation of the contactarm, its inner free end acting on the contact arm through a helical spring or the like connectingpthese two members.
line invention is shown in the accompanyling iii ewings in which.
Flglllffi 1 shows a plain of the switch with the outer cover removed. Fig". 2 is :1 seeiion on the line lll lli oi? Fig: 1 Fig. 3 is e lsn View with the cover removed of (l nonlicelzion'of the invention, and is 22 section on the line il -IV of Fig. 3.
' Referring to the drawing 1 indiceles the socket, 2 the contact arm, 3, 3 the contact springs 4e, e the terminals, and '7 the SWllCll spring connecting ihe switch lever with one end of the contect arm.
The manner of execution shown in F 1-2 is erimigeias the ordinary iiiinhlei" switches, es for as the handle lever is concei'neol. This latter consists of a (lonble lever 13, is: extending through the cover and pivoted on e pin 15 having its hearings in :i
ridge piece '16. The levers innei' iii-in lei is bent somewhat to one side and forms on eyelet i? Whereinthe end of the spring 7 is feslened, there being interposed between the eyelet 1 Mill the end; of the spring e smell insulating sleeve 18. The other encl of the spring is iissleneol lo the one upward hens enol of lhe eontseh level, ll/ hen the handle lever ,isiippecl-ovei' into his other posilion the end of lhe spring fiesltened thereto will. pesslhepivoh of the eonisct level" nel lll'lfilif by sense lslie ieitizei." jump suddenly into its other extreme posiiion shown n? dolieii lines the lei'minels arresting ii l: iis peel lion, in which position lhe handle lever as Well the eontee levee will remain slew itionei'yin consequence of the tension of she spring until lznis tension egein ,overieoine by the linnrlle sipped. one}? into 1% other nosiiion when in similar nwnnejg? eons'iect the conise springs c. 15:;

In the manner of execution shown in Figs.
3-4 the switch spring is arranged in en- :iclly similar manner, its inner end faslenerl lo the inner arm of a level." aclzl'pletl to he moved, in El plane perpendicular to the plane of revolution of the eonlecls arm and beyond the pivot thereof oy which movement it misses the inner enel of the spring into one 01" the other of two positions to different sides of this fulcrum. @n the iiirswo or the glue g I133, :28 28 Whioh i ened to We lows ends oi. nnsii hmo id else 0 holes one one in e ETKlS elf levels 20. in llie positien shown in the olmwn oonl'nct Elli'fifl is out of eonleet Willi the conlzsicfi l. i new the one pushdepressed, is Will cause ihe lQVQl $20 to turn and thereby also the arm 19 is turned the spring sine eonsequenl "he contest urn: Q will uinp o er. and ei'ni. Having now pziiiicnlei'ly described and sseeiileinecl the nature of one said invention end in what manner lheseine is to he performed, We l'leelei'e thee whet We claim is a plane perpendicular to the base, a spring connecting said contact arm to said tumbler lever and adapted to shift said arm from one position to another as said spring is actuated by said tumbler lever, for the purpose of opening or closing the switch.
. 2. An electric tumbler switch, comprising a contact arm, turnable parallel to the plane of the base; a tumbler lever, turnable in a,
plane perpendicular to the base, a spring connecting said contact arm to said tumbler lever and adapted to shift said arm from one position to another as said spring is actuatedby said tumbler lever, for the purpose of opening or closing the switch; said contact arm being retained in either of its signed our names in the presence of two sub- 20 scribing witnesses.
