Specification'of Letters Patent.

Application filed November 27, 1911. Serial No. 662,695.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that we, JAMES P. EMERY and EDWARD H. RossNnR, citizens of the United States, and residing at Blue Island, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and usefulIm provements in Coolers for Milk, Cream, and Water, of which the following is a specification.
b This invention relates to coolers which are usually used in restaurants, and hotel kitchens for cooling water, milk and cream.
The principal object of this invention is to obtain a cooler which can be thoroughly cleansed to render it sanitary.
A further object is to obtain a cooler which is provided with removable cans for the milk and cream from which nearly all the contents may bedrawn by means'of the faucets, and to obtain a removable filter for the water receptacle of the device. And a still further object is to obtain a durable device which is economically constructed and of pleasing appearance.
In the drawings Figure 1 is a top plan of a device embodying the invention. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the device. Fig. 3 is a front elevation of the device. Fig. 4t is a rear elevation of a water filter'forming an element of the device. Fig. 5 is an end view of the filter illustrated in Fig. 4. Fig. 6 is a vertical sectional view of the filter and Fig. 7 is a perspective view of a hinged leaf forming part of one of the doors of the device.

' A is a part of the device in which the ice and water receptacle is located.
a is a funnel through which water may be introduced into the water receptacle of the devi ce and a is a sight tube showing the quantity of water in the water receptacle.
B is a bar extending from one side of the device to the other on the top thereof 'and' secured to sides C. The sides, back and bottom of the device are respectively provided with double walls d, d, arranged to obtain between them the chamber D which is filled with non-heat conducting material, as char-- coal, saw dust, or'other suitable material, in
. the ordinary way of constructing refrigerators and other like devices.
I), I), (see Fig. 2) are covers which are secured tobar B by hinge 1). Cover 6 is raised to deposit ice in the water receptacle of the device.
E, E, are doors which are attached to the sides C by hinges e. The doors E are respectively provided with inner walls e be tween which walls a chamber E is formed and chamber E is filled with non-heat con ducting material the same as is chamber D. The doors E are respectively cut away at one of the lower corners thereof and leaf F is attached thereto by hinges f. The leaf F is cut away at the corner thereof adjacent to faucet G, as at 9, Fig. 7.
' H, H, are milk and cream cans which are respectively provided with the hereinbefore referred to faucets G. The walls of the front of the device below the doors E, E,
- (lettered I, Fig. 3), .are double and the chamber thereby obtained is filled with nonheat conducting material the same as chamber D.
J, J are chambers which serve as receptacles or compartments for cans H.
j is the bottom of compartments J, J, respectively, and is inclined downward from the back toward the front.
K is an upright which we make of wood, which is placed between compartments J, J.
Z0, is, are respectively curved sheets of metal forming the'backs of compartments J, J, and a portion of the front of the water receptacle of the device. The ends of the sheet metal backs 7c are, respectively, at-
. tached to walls 12; (see Fig. 1), and the upright K.
L is a water faucet which is secured in support Z underneath upright'K, (see Fig. 2). y
L, Figs. 1 and 2, is a support underneath upright K. Water is delivered from faucet L when said faucet is open.
M is a water filter which is forced into position underneath the inclined bottom 3" underneath the said bottom 7' to wedgeit tightly in place. It is also provided with handle N onthe back thereof by means of which it may be drawn out when it is desired to clean it. The front and rear walls thoroughly cleansed and maintained in a sanitary condition. When the receptacle or can H is not contained in compartment J or J, the said compartments can be thoroughly cleansed, Water running out therefrom at the front of the device because of the incline of the bottom j.
It will be observed that the bottom of each of the cans H is made on the same incline, relative to the front and back of said can, as the inclined bottom j is made relative to the back and front of said compartments J, J, so that When the cans are placed in said compartments the fronts and backs thereof are perpendicular, While said bottoms are on the same incline as bottom By this construction of the can H nearly all of the contents of said can may be drawn therefrom through faucets G When said can is in the receptacle J.
Water is placed in the Water receptacle of the device, and by raising the cover I) (see Fig. 2) ice may be placed in said receptacle. The temperature of the Water is lowered by said ice and said Water coming in contact With the back and bottom of compartments J, J, cools the contents thereof including the contents of the cans H in said compartments.
lVe claim A combined Water cooler, filter and refrigerator comprising Within a single casing a Water cooling reservoir, a filtered Water chamber spaced apart from said reservoir by a removable filter, and refrigerating compartments, the front Wall to said reservoir and the back Walls to the compartments made of heat-conducting material and common to said reservoir and compartments, bottoms to said compartments and a top to said filtered Water chamber, said bottom and top Walls common and inclined from a horizontal plane, and a top to said removable filter, said top inclined to correspond With the incline of said last named partition.
