FATE-lift??? STBEET-MARKEZ'Q,
Application filed October 31, 1911. Serial. No. 655C891 i To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, WILLIAM F; FINGER, a citizen ot the United States, residing at lVichita, in the county of Sedgwick and State of Kansas, have invented new and useful Improvements imStreet- Markers, of which the following is a Specification;
This invention relates to street markers and the object of the invention is to provide a simple and efficient device of this character which may be conveniently and readily installed. 1
Further objects of this invention will appear as the following specific description is read in connection with the accompanying drawing, which forms a part of this application, and in which 1' Figure 1 is a perspective view. -Fig. 2 is a vertical section. Fig. 3 is perspective view of the modified form partly in section. Referring more particularly to the draw ing, 1 represents an annular casting Which is preferably hollow throughout and which is provided with downwardly and forwardly inclined ends 2. The outer faces of the casting are apertured and covered with re-' movable panels 3 having meansior attaching them to the casting so that'they ma 7 he readilydetached for a purpose whic will be hereinafter described. These panels are preferably formed of a metallic frame at and a transparent sheet surrounded by the frame and having the name of the street printed thereon, as shown. from the juncture of the legs of the casing is a hollow post 5 upon which may be mounted a lamp post, mail box, or any other suitable receptacle or device. The legs of the casting and post are made hollow so as to receive electric wires, gas pipes, or the like so that the marker maybe lighted up at Extending up night so as to properly display the street sign. If necessary or desirable, the post may be provided with the removable transparent panel as shown, at 6, upon which suitable.
advertising indicia or other suitable data may he placed. v
v It will be observed that providing the casting with the downwardly inclined ends 2, will permit of the casting being held rigid and further from any accidental displace ment, and this function could be accom- "p'lished in several Ways, preferably by placing the curbing on top of the inclined ends 2, which is quite necessary inasmuch as the casting is intended to support a lamp-post, mailbox and the like, as above stated.
In the modified form, the structure shown v is similar in outline to the structure shown in Figs, 1 and 2 and is constructed of cement or other similar material and is provided with suitable reinforcing bars or members.- This type of device is adapted to be niounted at the junction of two streets or upon.
the corner of a house or similar place where it is desired to provide a sign for directing a stranger or for any other similar nurpose.
\Vhat is claimed is:
A street marker comprising apair of integral diverging legs having their outer terminals downwardly inclined, an integral supporting post rising from the junction of said and panels carried by the legs and post, said panels having street indicating indicia.
In testimony whereof I allix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
