To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, LOUIS v. ARONSON, a citizen of the United Stateai'esiding in the city of Newark, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cigar-Tip Cutters, of which the following is a full, clear. and exact description, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make, construct, and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to numerals of reference marked thereon, forming a part of this specification.

The object of my invention is to provide improved means for removing the end or tip of a cigar, preparatory to smoking the same, the structure to be mounted preferably upon the side of an igniter case, the igniter being mounted upon a suitable tray as hereinafter described, so as to provide a receptacle for the cut-off tip of the cigar.

In the drawings, Figure 1 represents a front elevation of an igniter provided with my improved cigar tip cutter; and Fig. 2 represents an enlarged rear plan view of the cigar-tip cutter removed from the igniter.

Similar numerals of reference refer to like parts throughout the specification and drawmgs.

In the drawings, 1 represents an igniter centrally mounted on a suitable tray 2, usually provided with one or more cigar supporting elements 3. Secured to the front side of the igniter case, in any convenient manner, as for instance, by the use of solder,

is the cigar-tip cutter 4, which cutter con sists essentially of an open, shallow, circular case 5 provided with an aperture 6, an opening 7 to permit the cut-off portions of the cigar to pass therethrr ugh,and an elongated slot 8 for the reception of the push-piece 9.

Rotatably mounted within and against the front wall of the case 5 by means of the rivet 10, in a circular steel plate 11, and a supporting plate 15 to be hereinafter described, the circular steel plate being cut away as illustrated in the drawings to provide a V-shaped notch, the edges of the notch being sharpened as at 12 for the purpose of forming two cutting edges. The circular steel plate 11 is provided with oppositely-arranged, upwardly-extending lugs 13 formed integral therewith by cutting out peripheral notches, designed to engage with notches l i formed in the supporting plate 15, and to which said circular steel plate 11 is frictionally secured to the disk-supporting plate 15 by the lugs 13, which if desired may also be clenched over against the supporting plate 15 Extending from one side of the supporting plate 15 is an integral handle or push piece 9, designed to pass through the elongated slot 8 in the case 5, thereby providin g means for actuating the circular steel plate 11.

with the-push-piece 9 in the position illustrated in Fig. 1 of the drawings, by inserting the cigar-tip into the aperture 6 and then moving the push-piece 9 either upwardly or downwardly, it will be seen that either one of the cutting edges 12 will remove the end of the tip and the same will pass out through the opening 7 of the case into the tray 2, from which the same can be removed whenever desired.

The parts are of such shape as to lend themselves readily to manufacture by the use of suitable punches and dies from ordinary sheet metal.

Although I have illustrated the preferred form of my invention, I do not care to be limited to the exact details of construction shown and described, as obvious modifications thereof will appear to those skilled in the art.

I claim:
