To all whom it may concern Be it known that l, RALPH FULLENWID'ER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Idaho Falls, in the county of Bonneville and State of Idaho, have invented new and useful Improvements in Strainer-Holders,

'of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to supports, and more particularly to strainer supports, so designed as to permit of milk strainers being easily and readily supported on cream separators or the like.

The primary object of the invention is the provision of a strainer support of the above stated character wherein means are employed for permitting of the support being attached to various sizes of tanks, and further serving as means for permitting of a quick and easy attachment of the support with such tanks.

To this end, use is made of a body portion adapted to accommodate the mounting of a strainer thereon, and an adjustable clamping jaw associated with the body portion, enabling the jaw to be adjusted to various sized tanks, and means associated with the movable jaw for retracting the latter into clamping engagement with the separator.

Another object of the invention is the provision of a strainer support of the above stated character which shall be simple in construction, durable in use, and well adapted for the purposes intended.

With the above and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel features, details of construction and combination of parts which will hereinafter be more fully set forth, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and pointed out in the appended claims.

Figure 1 is a plan view of the support;

Fig. 3 is a detail sectional view illustrating the manner of connection of the movable aw and its parts with the frame of the support.

Referring more particularly to the accompanying drawing, in which like characters of reference refer to corresponding parts in the several views, 5 denotes the strainer support generally comprising a pair of sections 6 and 7 respectively, each section embodying a thin narrow metallic strip bowed at a point substantially medially of its length, indicated by the character 8, and the two sections are riveted together by fasteners 9, whereby the bowed portions of each section form a substantially circular body portion 10, adapted to support therein the usual milk strainer. The strips forming the body portion are so formed to provide the frame with a fixed jaw 11, by bending the strips in opposite lateral directions, to

provide horizontally alined arms 12, having the free terminal portion thereof formed with a rearwardly extending hooked end 13. The function for the hooked ends, if not apparent, will be described as the description of the invention is proceeded with. Formed contiguous with the circular body portion 10 at a point diametrically opposite the point of formation of the fixed jaw 11 therewith, the strips are bent in opposite lateral directions to form each strip with an L-shaped terminal 14 arranged in opposition one to the other forming a U-shaped frame 15. Secured on the terminals of the side limbs of the U-shaped frame 15 are guide loops 16 for slidably receiving the movable jaw 17. The said movable jaw is constructed of similar material as that forming the body portion 10, and in this instance constitutes a pair of sections riveted together by the fastener 18 and extended at one end to provide horizontally alined clamping arms 19 formed at their free terminal with inwardly bent hooked ends 20. These hooked ends 20 and the hooked ends 13 of the fixed jaw 11, are adapted to engage over the beading formed on the ordinary tank or cream separator for supporting the strainer support thereon. The strips forming the movable jaw are bent in an opposite direction from the clamping arm 19 to form the same with L-shaped arms 21 disposed in confronting relation to one another and conforming in contour to the contour of the U-shaped frame 15 and slidably mounted thereon. Fastened between the lL-shaped ends of the U-shaped frame 15 and between the L-shaped arms 22 of the movable jaw are almed lugs 23 and 24 respectively. lf employ a coiled spring 25 connected at one end in the aperture of the lug 23 and connected at its opposite end in the aperture of the lug 24 and adapted to tension the movable jaw, whereby after the support has been properly assembled on a tank or other structure, upon release of the movable jaw, the spring will cause an inward pull thereon and retract the same into clamping contact with the mouth of the separator, not shown. Itiveted on the inner ends of the L-shaped arms 22 are guide loops 26 for assisting in guiding the movable jaw within the frame 15 of the body portion.

From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, the advantages of construction and of the method of operation will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art to which the invention relates, and while I have decribed the principles of operation of the invention, together with the device which I new con sider to be the best embodiment thereof, I desire to have it understood that the device shown is merely illustrative, and that such changes may be made when desired as are within the scope of the claims appended thereto.

I claim:

1. A support for milk strainers comprising a substantially circular body portion formed from a pair of sections, a fixed jaw provided on one end of said sections, the opposite end of said sections being bent at a point diametrically opposite the point of formation of the fixed jaw to provide an integral U-shaped frame, a movable jaw slidably associated with the limbs of said frame and a spring connected with the movable jaw for drawing the same in a direction toward the fixed jaw.

A support for milk strainers comprising a circular body portion, a fixed jaw formed integral with and to one side of said body portion, a U-shaped frame formed integral with the body portion at a point diametrically opposite the point ofv formation of the fixed jaw and the terminals of the frames being provided with guide loops, a movable jaw having L-shaped arms provided with loops on the free extremities thereof, the loops of the U-shaped frame and the loops of the L-shaped arms forming a slidable connection of the movable jaw with the frame of the circular body portion and a spring connected with the body portion and with the movable jaw for drawing the latter in a direction toward the fixed aw.

3. A support for milk strainers comprising a circular body portion, a fixed jaw formed integral with and to one side of said body portion, a U-shaped frame formed integral with the body portion at a point diametrically opposite the point of formation of the fixed jaw and the terminals of the frames being provided with guide loops. a movable jaw having L-shaped arms provided with loops on the free extremities thereof, the loops of the U-shaped frame and the loops of the L-shaped arms forming a.

slidable connection of the movable jaw with the frame of the circular body portion, an apertured lug secured between the limbs of said frame, a second apertured lug secured between the L-shaped arms of the movable jaw and alining longitudinally with the first mentioned lug, and a coiled spring connected in the aperture of each of said lugs for forcing the movable jaw in a direction toward the fixed jaw.
