IMPROVEMENT IN. WOOD-STDVES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No.128,016, dated June 18,1572.
Specification describing a new and Improved Tod-Stove, invented by GHAUNCEY H. CAS- TLE, of Quincy, in the County of Adams and State of Illinois.
Figure 1 represents a side elevation of my improved tod or Wood-burning stove. Fig. 2 is a vertical transverse section of the same.

This invention relates to an improvement in the construction of the lining of tod-stoves- Q'. e., elongated wood-burning stoves. It consists in making the same at at the bottom, thereby increasing the Strength and utility of the stove, and making it much easier to clean it.
A in the drawing represents the Stove-body, of suitable shape and size, made usually of sheet metal, except at the ends, which are cast. B is the inner metallic lining, extending from end to end of the Stove-body to form an air* space at the sides and bottom of the stove. The bottom of this lining is made flat, as shown at a in Fig. 2. Heretofore it was made arched, as shown by dotted lines.
Making the bottom iiat gives more nre-space and facilitates to a great extent the removal of ashes, Sto., besides bracing the Sides of the lining more than the inverted arch.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent` The lining B of a tod or Wood-burnin g stove, when made with a flat bottom, as Set forth.
