To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that we, DAVID LEOPOLD DU- BICK, a subject of the Czar of Russia, and NATHAN NEGHAMKIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Baltimore and State of Maryland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Supports for-Shade- Rollers, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to curtain-shades, and screens, and more particularly to new and useful improvements in supports for shade rollers. I

An object of this invention is to provide an improved support for shade rollers and the like comprising a protecting housing having improved adjustable supports therein and closures for the housing for rendering the same dust-proof. While the following detail description of the invention describes the invention as a Shade roller and curtain support, the device is not limited to this use, but may be used in any capacity wherein fabrics or the like are arranged in rolled or other form for demonstration purposes or the like.

Another object of this invention is to construct a housing of the class described wherein the insertion and removal of the shade roller may be quickly and easily accomplished.

Other objects and advantages will appear from the following detail description taken with an inspection of the accompanying drawing, in which- Figure 1 is a top plan view of our invention the cover being in open position.

Fig. 2 is a rear side elevational view of the same.

Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view taken on line 3-3 of Fig. 2.

Fig. 4 is a similar view taken on line H of Fig. 2, and

Fig. 5 is a detail enlarged perspective view of one of the supports.

Referring more particularly to the drawing wherein similar characters of reference designate like and corresponding parts throughout'the various views, 1 designates the body of the housing in its entirety, said housing having permanently connected front and rear walls 2 and 3 respectively, and end walls 4. A plurality of hangers 5 having openings 6 extend upwardly from the rear wall 3 to support the housing at a convenient point.

The rear wall 3 is provided with a plurality of slots 7 extending inwardly from the extremities of said wall. The bracket roller supporting members of our invention are practically identical in form and construction and are designated 8 and 9 in their entirety. Upon reference to Fig. 5 the shape of the bracket supporting members will be clearly seen, a description of Fig. 5 suificing for both of the brackets. The bracket cOn1- prises a base portion 10 and a supporting portion 11, the base portion having a rectangular lug 12 on the outer face thereof for reception in the slots 7 as shown to advantage in Fig. 2. A screw 13 passes through the slots and into the lug, a washer 14 being interposed between the outer surface of the wall 3 and the screw head, for an obvious purpose. Each of the brackets is provided with an opening for reception of the trunnions 15 of the shade roller 16, the opening shown in Fig. 5 being square to receive the squared trunnion.

A shade 17 is rolled upon the roller 16, said shade passing between a strip 18 carried by the rear wall 3 and a bottom wall 19 detachably carried by the end walls 4. The extremities of the bottom 19 are reduced as at 20 for reception in recesses 21 in the walls 1, the bottom 19 preferably being made of some resilient material, whereby flexing of the same will permit its detachment. The lower end of the shade is provided with the usual stick 22 which prevents the shade from passing entirely up through the housing. A. hinged cover 23 is provided on the housing 1 and a sliding strap 24, secured by screws 25 on the cover, is adapted to engage an upstanding arm 26 carried by the rear wall 3 and having an aperture 27 therein.

A pair of curtain pole supports 28 may be provided extending through the front wall 2 of the housing. It will be seen that quick and easy adjustment of the brackets 8 and 9 may be had in the present embodiment of my invention, and that insertion and removal of the shade roller may be easily accomplished. It will also be understood that various sized shade rollers may be employed, that is, shade rollers of various lengths, by simply adjusting the brackets to various positions.

From the above description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, it is thought that a clear and comprehensive understanding of the construction, operation and advantages of our'in'vention may be had, and While We have shown and described our invention as embodying a specific structure, We desire that it be understood that We may make such changes on said structure as do not depart from the spirit and scope of the invention as described.

What We claim as our invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

In a shade support, a housing having the lower portions of the ends thereof horizontally grooved above the lower edges of the Copies at this patent ma front and rear Walls, a strip reniovabiy engaged with said grooved ends having one marginal portion spaced from the adjacent side of the housing to provide a Way, said strip being adapted to be flexed to be inserted in the grooves and between the front and rear Walls, and brackets arranged in said housing.
