IMPROVEMENT IN MEDICINE-CASES,

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 136,973, datul Mauh 18. 1873.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, WILLIAM H. CUTLER, of Buffalo, in the county of Erie and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Medicine-Case; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification, in which-- Figure 1 is a perspective view of the upper half of the box with the cover applied. Fig. 2 is a perspective view with the cover removed. Fig. 3 is a vertical section of the box.

The object of my invention is to provide an en block, A, of suitable size and depth, one to receive the bottle containing the liquid, the other the instrument to be used in inhaling it. At the open end of the block AIform a straight groove, 0, in each of its longer sides to receive the flanges d of the sheet-metal cover or slide B. The lip or flange e on the end of the cover constitutes a stop for the cover when it is slid over the end of a case, and a pull or thumb piece for use in drawing it in the opposite direction. In additionto this construction Imay indent the cover, as shown at 2', thus forming a corresponding projection on the under side, which the flexibility of the cover allows to pass over the central vertical partition of the case. It forms a stop or catch, holding in position the cover and preventing it sliding back byreason of its coming in contact with the vertical partition or side of the case A interiorly, as represented in Fig. 3.

Thus constructed the case is cheaper and far more durable than paper boxes heretofore used for the same purpose, is capable of protecting its contents from injury by blows, pressure, 850., and is uninjured by dampness, while the ornamented label may be applied more neatly.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by-Letters Patent, is-

The improved medicine case or box formed of the solid wooden block A having the longitudinal openings at a and the sliding sheetmetal cover B therefor, provided with the flanges d d fitting in grooves c c, and with the stop and thumb-piece e, as shown and described.
