Be it known that I, VIoLAC. Buon, a citizen of United States, residing at 306 W. Water street, Sandusky, in the county of Erie and State of Ohio, have invented ay new and original and useful Nail-Polisher, of which the following is a specification.

The present invention, relating, as indicated, to anail polishing device, is par.- ticularly directed to the provision of an improved type of nail polisher or buffer which shall be simple to manufacture andvery much more convenient in use than the straight buffers which are now generally used. To the accomplishment of the foregoing andrelated ends, said invention, then, consists of the means hereinafter fully described and particularly pointed out in the claims.

The annexed drawing and the following description set forth indetail certain mechanismembodying the invention, such disclosed means constituting, however, but one of various mechanical forms in which the principle of the invention may be used.

In said annexed drawing Figure 1 is a side elevation of the cylindrical inclosing case of my device; Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the form to be inserted within the case for carrying the polishing material; Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the cap or cover for the case of. Fig. l; Fig. 4

Fig. 5v is a longitudinal central section through the form shown in Fig. 2, but show ing the strip of polishing material in place thereon; and Fig. 6 is a transverse section on the line 6.46 in Fig. 4.

In Fig. 4 there is shown the complete device as assembled, consisting of an openended cylindrical case or'container 1, pro' vided with a removable cap 2. The case l is provided with knurling 3 for providing a series of slightly raised projections on the inside of the caseto assist in maintaining the polishing device proper in place.

The polishing 'device proper consists of a tubular member 4 provi-ded with slightly flanged ends 5, and covered by means of a strip of polishing material 6, such as chamois, which isstretched over the inside walls of the member 4, and is then re-bent around the flanged ends 5. movable means such as a thread 7 wrappedk several times around the re-bent ends of the chamois to hold the latter tightly against the outer edges of the form 4. The strip of polishing material may be either left in the Y form of a straight stripV or two opposite ends maybe sewed together to form a complete tube which will it snugly within the Vinsufficient to prevent the buer from being removed when it is desired to replace the' chamois.

In use the device is heldin one hand,-

while a person inserts one linger of the other hand into the open end of the buffer with either a longitudinal or oscillatory circular i motion', in thislway polishing the nail against the surface of the chamois. By pushingthel finger longitudinally into the buffer, while at the same time pressing the nail against the chamois, the cuticle about the edges of the nail is forced back very much more effectively than can be done with the relatively straight buffers that are now in use." Furthermore, my polisher can be used without rubbing the flesh at either side of the linger nail, which is one objection to the use of the straight polisher. The present device is extremely small and compact and is 'very much smaller than the straight buffers which are nowy vgenerally used. 1

Other modes of applying the principle of my invention may be employed insteadl of the one explained, change being made as regards the mechanism herein disclosed, ro-
